Songs That Celebrate

3) The relationship between humans and Gods are very close the people pray to them for health and salvation and for them to guide them in a positive way. The also refer to people living in heaven as well to guide them. The take the Gods very seriously and respect them and there powers at all times.

4)The attitude of the songs are very up beat and fast paced. They speak with respect and dignity. They worship with their songs.

5)I find all the Orishas appealing in one way or another. I think Oshun is very appealing she cares for the sick children and watches over them and doesn't ask for anything in return shes very generous.

Favorite Movie

I am a big fan of movies. It doesn't matter if its comedy, horror, suspense or action. There all great. But my favorite movie is from the year 2004, called Man On Fire.
The movie stars many famous faces including Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, and Marc Anthony. The movie takes place in Mexico City. Were there's been a crime spree of many kidnappings. Dezels character Creasy becomes a body guard of a young girl named Pita played by Dakota Fanning. But hes not really found of becoming a body guard and he puts up a rough exterior. But then after bonding and being with each other constantly they become attached. One day as Pita was kidnapped. Creasy goes on a rampage trying to find the young child hes become so attached to. This is a great ending with a sad twist at the end and is a great action suspense movie. I recommend that you rent it.

critics review

After watching the movie When Rain Clouds Gather yesterday i have to say that it was pretty slow i have seen better. I just don't understand why the plot was so slow. All it had to do with was growing crops and the lives of the women in Botswana that all they eat it goat meat and spoiled milk and tea. The movie was interesting and suspenseful in the fact that we wanted to understand Myakhaya as a character but there is no driving point to this story theres no climax there is no plot to the movie its just about a guy who leaves his country and ends up in a town and has to work in algriculture but no to be mean but I give this movie a C-. It was not very entertianing. Not very interesting at all.

State Assesment Tests

In the state of FL we have an FCAT (FL comprehension assesment test) we actually had it last week and earlier this week. Personally I hate these test to begin with.

These test in generally are used to see how well the students in the state work. But I only think one of the three test really acuratly test you. Which is the reading test becuase if you can read you can read and you can understand.Reading doesn't change. But on the other hand the math test tests you on a range of diffrent kinds of math. But in school your freshman year you only learn algerbra and in sophmore year they only thing they teach you geometry. Two things which are barley on the test. If they are going to test you they should test you on things you have learned not to long ago. It is ridiculos to give a student a test that is going to determine whether they graduate or not on stuff they haven't even learned yet or that they learned a long time ago and that is not fresh in their memory. Same with science they teach you biology your sophmore year and theres like 5 questions on it out of around 53 questions. The others you pretty much have to take an educated guess and hope you got it right.

The stupid thing is that these questions and test are made up by people at the head of the school department, that have no idea about what the schools are teaching us or probably don't even care cause there old and done with school. Also there was an incident last year in which all the teachers said that the reading test and math test wouldn't count. They told the students it was a "practice test" because thats what the state told them and that was what the truth was at the moment. But these official at the head of the school department in Tallahasse decided...well lets just make it count. Pretty much because they felt it was a "good" idea. Well thanks to them a lot of student in FL particulary at my school are in intensive reading and intensive math classes. Student who some are which are very smart, bright, intelligent students who pretty much decided not to do their best because it was a "practice test" so now they can't take all of there electives because there stuck in intensive reading and math courses instead of classes that may pretain to their future.

I think these test should be changed or the curiculum shoud change to accomodate the students so it is fair to pass the test. Also I think when they say they are going to have a practice test they should keep it that way. It is a very big deal to be held back as a senior just because you couldnt pass FCAT because what they are being taught is not in the test.

A Drop of Milk

Think Through:

1) I don't understand why he always wanted to defeat man if he created man. What was the point of making man if you just wanted to defeat man.

2)The world was created by a huge drop of milk. But then Doondari came down from above and started creating things which help make new things occur. Such as the creation of stone which evolved into the creation of iron. Then later he created man and then defeated man because he became too proud.

3)N/A

4)In the story there were many defeats. It starts off with blindness being created by Doondari to defeat man but then blindness became too proud. Then sleep was created to defeat blindness but sleep can cancel out blindness because you can wake up and open your eyes and you wont be blind anymore. Then worry was created to defeat sleep because if you worry sleep can't happen. But then to defeat worry they made death because if your dead you can't worry cause you would be dead. But lastly of course like all the other death became too proud so Doondari came back eternal and eternal defeated death.

5)I think he came back as Gueno the eternal, because if your eternal you can't be defeated.

6)I find that people become too proud and forget about things. Also that we all start from nothing and have to build ourselves up but not much people remember and as I said earlier they become too proud.

7)If man had not been proud there would have never been any defeats which would make everyone equal and bland and there would be no progress, nobody would learn from mistakes.

8)Well in all three stories man was created but then of course man has faults but that's looked down upon but then the higher beings of some sort if any try to make them better but then that just causes more problems and defeats.

9)I don't think its very satisfying because nothing was specific and you don't know how it occurs other then defeats and errors in the humans. I think it would have been better if it was more specific.

Rain Clouds

central conflict main character atributes plot summary

In the story the "When Rain Clouds Gather" by Bessie Head there are a lot of main characters but the plot of the story seems to revolve around a man named Makhaya. There are many things going on in the book in chapters 5 & 6. We learn that the government falls pretty much of disappers after a conflict come about between the two brothers that govern then town in which Makhaya is currently residing. After escaping in the first chapter of the book for an unknown reason. Also in chapter 6 he witnesses a traditional wedding in the town in which he resides between his friend Gilbert and Makhaya's friends daughter Maria.

A lot of the plot has to do with algriculture and crops because Makhaya is live with Gilbert. Who is incharge of the farming process of the town. Makhaya is a very educated smart wise man. But he is a little reserved. There isn't much known about him in the book. Only that hes refugee and wants to start a new life and have a family. To say the least hes qwite mysterious . He isn't a big fan of talking politics him and Gilbert had a mini confrentation in one of the chapters . But everyonce in a while he talks about a piece of paper that people keep in there pocket and about blowing things up. I think he escaped his homeland because he was being acused of being some kind of terrorist. I think hes a very interesting character to find more out about. I think we have to wait a while before we find out who the real Makhaya is.
